| Quick Facts: Linna is an aspiring law student with hopes of getting involved in national politics, so the more she learned about UCR’s Department of Political Science, the more she wanted to attend.
The third-year student has been involved in research with faculty members Martin Johnson and Antoine Yoshinaka analyzing the impact of national policies on the states. She’s also involved with a study examining death penalty requirements from states across the country. Linna’s approach is to jump in with both feet: “I was itching to get involved and the opportunities here are really abundant. Even as a freshman and sophomore, nobody put me off.” Since arriving at UCR from Mark Keppel High School in Monterey Park, Linna has joined the Delta Gamma sorority, worked for the student newspaper, The Highlander, won election to the ASUCR Academic Senate and received acceptance to the Honors Program. She recommends high school students shopping for a school to attend visit the campuses they’re considering, ask former class members who’ve attended the schools they’re interested in and check out the schools’ Web sites. |
